# Yep. My requirement is that they acknowledge my presence, and then be

Lo, these many years ago, when I was a gunschmidt, we had a corner
rigged with an old couch, an old easy chair, a coffee table covered with
gun magazines, and a 35 cup coffee pot. That was the "Old Farts Corner"
where friends, relatives, and visitors could sit around and lie to each
other. Had a couple of deer heads, a stuffed squirrel or two, and such
stuff. They didn't buy a lot of stuff from me but they sure referred
anyone they met to Guns 'N Gadgets that might be interested in buying,
selling, trading, or just needed to talk to someone who was more
knowledgeable than JO Jo on the corner. A good gun shop has a place for
people of all types. I would rather waste my time talking about guns
with someone who might buy one someday than with some goober who thought
his time was more important than the other guys.

Might be why I don't visit the few shops where I live now, too business
like (don't waste my time unless you have money). A gun shop is also a
place where people can get educated if they're really interested. Might
help to have a smelly old hunting dog lying in the corner too. Mine
always thumped his tail on the floor when anyone came in. Pretty good
alarm system too.

One man's opinion.

George
