This should work with a clone. I recall it was quite easy to do;
unfortunately, I did this many, many years ago, and can't remember much
about doing it:
Removing a "safety" is frowned upon. You should never drive
out the tiny pin in the trigger (not the pin on which it
pivots). If this pin is removed and the trigger's lever
(which pushes the transfer bar in the slide) is gently
pried toward the centerline of the pistol, the mag safety
plunger and spring will pop right out. Recent P-35's require
that the trigger pivot pin be driven out and the trigger
removed to permit the plunger & spring to be removed, but
the older one's don't require this. Never do this.
