2) Rack the SLR and say " Halt! I am Prepared to fire"

Actuality (depending on threat level)
1) SLR in hand on first detecting 'visitor' - SLR racked and ready -
saying" Halt who goes there?"
2)if not happy then BANG!!!!!!
3) continue from 1) under 'Offcial' - horizontal opponent shows no
signs of complaining.

Oh and we were actually issued Lee Enfield .303's initially .. a piece
of history
