Re: 1911 issues

by:TP#I was reading a review online about the Springfield Armory
Mil-Spec. The reviewer stated that he had a problem with the extractor
breaking after only a couple of hundred rounds and had to send it back
to the factory for repair.#Has anybody heard of this being a problem
with Springfields? I know that Kimber was dealing with this issue for a
while.#I'm looking form the impossible here... a 1911 for around
$500.#The Mil-Spec fills that bill nicely in my mind.#However... Am I
missing out on another maker of 1911's?#Are there any others in that
price range that might be better?#I will be having some custom work done
to make it a CCW gun.

Another make of 1911 that's guaranteed not to fail?.No where on this big
blue marble your going to find a perfect manufactured gun 100% of the
time.I've had several very highly recommended firearms fail for no
apparent reason,it's the nature of the beast when mass production is
involved. As you mentioned even the highly proclaimed Kimber had minor
problems. It's good your researching before you buy but if all you found
thus far is one bad review I'd say Springfield is doing a pretty good
job however *** happens. For the price range you mentioned I would still
consider Springfield. If your planing on tricking it out a bit as you
mentioned and the extractor issue weighs heavy on your mind, just have it
swapped out for a more quality oriented one...
