# Here's what happened. I have just started reloading shells for my

# powder into the shell. When I fired the gun it just went pop about
# like a 22 or even less. Being careful I stopped shooting and checked
# the cylinder and the barrel. There was a bullet logded in the barrel
# about half an inch past the cylinder end of it--I assume put there by
# the primer. I then used a punch to drive the bullet backwards out of
# the barrel. However only the lead portion and a small round copper
# piece came out. I seems that the lead core and the copper covering the
# bottom of the bullet came out and the copper covering the side of the
# bullet wedged firmly against the inside of the barrel. I can see it in
# there and it's copper colored and about 3/8 inch long. I've tried all
# manor of punches, chisels and screwdrivers to dislodge it. I even
# tried freezing the gun a couple hours in the kitchen freezer hoping the
# copper would contract more than the stainless steel barrel would and be
# easier to loosen. That didn't work either. Any suggestions?

Point: never use a metal tool in the bore of a gun, unless specifically
designed for such.

To remove lodged bullets, etc., use a /wooden/ dowel that is the
approximate diameter of the bore.

You may want to have a reputable gunsmith look at the firearm to ensure
that it is still in safe, operable condition.
