I had started to reply to the OP several times and then just trashed my
responses. But since you have brought it up, I'd like to chime in.
You are 100% correct! All of this information is available for free
from the ol' BATFe. And yes, the background check is extensive and the
BATFe actively discourages "kitchen table" enterprises. The sale of a
few firearms a year doesn't constitute a valid need in their eyes.
Further, somebody who is only purchasing a few firearms a year is not
going to enjoy *extensive wholesale purchase discounts*. Margins on
firearms ain't that great. Better prices are given in tiers based upon
purchase quantity. It is quite likely that the FFL will wind up costing
you a whole lot more than you'll save (if you really save anything) in
the long run.
And after actually looking at the link provided by the OP, it would seem
that he was pushing the C&R version of the FFL. That's going to limit
what can be purchased and sold, as well!
