I haven't seen it myself, but one of my SKS books says that Chinese
extractors will tend to have variable metallurgy, the author had seen a
number of broken ones that looked like foamed steel. Your rangemaster
might have seen one or more of those go that way, for a lot of folks an
SKS is an SKS, no matter where it was made. Yugos seem to have a lot
better workmanship than the Chinese ones. If you're overly nervous
about it, shut the gas off and use it as a straight-pull when blasting
out the Wolf stuff.
Wolf supposedly has changed their case coating in the last few years
from the original lacquer, the gun was designed to use copper-plated
steel cases. If I'm looking for blasting ammo, that's the sort I look
for at the shows. Most of what I've been shooting lately has been
brass-cased white-box stuff, though. You might pick up an spare
extractor while they're available at reasonable prices, they won't last
forever.
