Beretta 390

I have been reading the posts about the Beretta 390 shotgun. It sounds
like the gun is recommended by most of the group. I have a few
questions that I am hoping someone can answer. I looked at the gun in
Wal-Mart today and it seems to fit the bill. I want to find something
lighter in weight than my 870 in a semi-auto. The Beretta I looked at
felt lighter than the 11-87 Remington in the store. I am not sure how
it compares to the 1100. I guess the bottom line is I am looking for a
lightweight, dependable, 12 gauge semi-auto for pheasant and quail
hunting. If it covers those qualifications it does not really matter
the brand or the age (I do admit the Beretta felt pretty good). If I
could find it I would like something in the $300 range but I am
thinking I am going to need to look at spending around $500.
Here are my questions:
-Should I stay away from Wal-mart guns (are they "special" built)?
-As I look around on the internet there seem to be a lot of different
numbers for the Beretta 12 ga.
Is the AL 390 ST the right number for the synthetic stock version?
--Any problems with this particular Beretta?
-26" barrel or 28"? (I am leaning toward the 26).
-Reccomended entry level semi-autos in this group seems to be the 1100
Remington, Brownings and Baretta's. Are there others
in my price range I should consider?
Sorry for the length of my post. I was hoping to keep it short.
Thanks, -K
