#I have a rat problem in my attic. I tried a large spring trap and found it
# the next day several feet away from where it was set. A rats leg was in
# the
# trap but the rat was nowhere to be seen.
#
# #From the droppings there are likely to be many rats in my attic.
#
# I intend to tether my traps such that they cannot be carried away.
# However,
# I fully expect to check a trap one day and find a live rat caught in the
# trap.
#
# I have a .22 pistol with CCI Long Rifle shot shells. Should this do the
# trick for finishing the buggers off. I also have and can fit my pistol
# for
# .22 mag shot shells.
#
# I haven't fired these shot shells for about 25 years. Are they loud. Can
# they finish off a moderate sized rat. Will the long rifle shot shell do
# the
# trick or should I use the magnum round.
#
# Will plasterboard stop the shot. Shooting in the attic, I do not want to
# punch holes in my room ceilings.
#
# Thanks for any advice.
#
# It's gonna be me or them...

Those .22s will go through that plaster board like butter. The mag shot
shells probably will too. Poison is an option, but the rats will go off
somewhere and die and stink to high heaven and probably soak through your
ceiling. Traps are probably still your best bet.
