Thanks for posting this, Charlie! Those kids had muchos cojones
to defy the establishment in this way.

Consider that the teacher may well have been forced to assign this
test as a function of Bush's "No Child Left Behind" educational
disaster.

All over the country, REAL educators have for years been horrified
and frustrated at this sterile "teach to the test" debacle. It shunts
aside real learning and thinking in favor of keeping the
phony numbers up.

(BTW: Bush stole the slogan from Marion Wright Edelman's
Children's Defense Fund, a legitimate pro-children organization.)

CAVEAT: I have been reading that some supporters of Hillary
have vowed, if she is not the candidate, to vote for McCain
instead, because many are dismayed at the way the media treated
Hillary.

Electing McBush is NOT the answer!

It is VERY hard to understand this reasoning. Cutting off your nose
to spite your face! Why would anybody wish on the country a Bush III
Administration, or, as it is now being called, "McBush".

Has anyone actually gone back and READ MCain's positions
before he underwent the customary campaign flip-flops? Everything
is out there on-line, for those who choose to see it.

Forget his plan to send our daughters and sisters back to the
coat-hanger; forget prolonging the Iraq war (whose real rationale was
restricting the supply of oil to keep the price up); *forget our
tanking economy (McCain said he doesn't know much
about economics); forget the housing crisis and soaring food price;
forget the danger of tipping the Supreme Court into the reactionary
camp; In fact forget every reason for NOT continuing "our long
national nightmare".

BUT THINK OF OUR CHILDREN'S EDUCATION!
For their sake, if nothing else, we cannot afford four or eight more
years of these barefaced arrogant lawbreakers ****ing on our
Constitution!

* Go to http://www.gregpalast.com/> for a hair-raising explanation
for the recent meteroric rise in gas prices at the pump, as well
as other historic spikes, going back to 1928.

Teaser paragraph:

"In 1928, oil company chieftains (from Anglo-Persian Oil, now British
Petroleum, from Standard Oil, now Exxon, and their Continental
counterparts) were faced with a crisis: falling prices due to rising
supplies of oil; the same crisis faced by their successors during the
Clinton years, when oil traded at $22 a barrel.

The solution then, as now: stop the flow of oil, squeeze the market,
raise the price. The method: put a red line around Iraq and declare
that virtually all the oil under its sands "

THINK OF OUR CHILDREN'S EDUCATION!!

LEONARD PITTS: Conservative pundits long on rhetoric, short on the facts

(An excerpt from the article)
There was once a day when conservatism was driven by principles: smaller
government, less-intrusive government, strong national defense, fiscal
sobriety. But in the years since that day, the putative heirs to Reagan
have trampled not just those principles, but also principle itself.

The ideology that wanted small government now presides over expanded
government, the one that wanted less intrusion now seeks to regulate
bedroom behavior, the one that demanded strong national defense has run
the military into the ground, the one that championed fiscal sobriety
turned a $236 billion budget surplus into a $400 billion deficit. And if
thoughtful conservatives see the disconnect, if they have the
intellectual integrity to find it shameful, the newsflash is, thoughtful
conservatives no longer predominate their ideology.

No, that honor goes to unthoughtful conservatives, the loud, proudly
ignorant voices of talk radio, books and television of which Kevin James
is now the poster child.

Mr. Pitts does ask that you look at

Being an ex-Republican myself, it supports my contention that
Republicans weren't always a pack of Neanderthal thugs.
