Speaking of, I may have to hit you up for some help on my PC's new motherboard. For some reason, even though it's the same board, it doesn't see my two optical drives. I need to go back and make sure those ribbon cables are plugged in well...
You sure it's hardware and not software? I just got done helping a friend who 'lost' his two CD drivers on his Windows XP machine. Turns out Napster has custom CD drivers that don't get along with Service Pack 2, and we had to decide to uninstall one or the other. We chose to dump Napster. :)
Pretty sure. Basically what had happened was that I got one of those Dell boards that had the bad capacitors on it and the PC kept shutting down after around 2 minutes(this is after I've had the machine for 3 or 4 years now). I basically got another motherboard(the same model) and just swapped them out. The HDs have been untouched, and when Windows comes up it can't tell the difference between the old MB and the new one...it just simply can't see the optical drives. Even the MB's bios says they are "unidentified". Going to work with it somemore tonight, see how it goes. At least it's back up and running though...and I didn't have to start over with Windows. ;)
-KKC, who should know better than to browse online shops when broke.
....but that's when all the best deals show up! Happens every damn time too. I was between jobs when I came across RockMan MegaWorld(Mega Man: The Wily Wars) on Genesis for $100. After years of looking for it, I *had* to get it, job or no.... ;)
