Hello all,
I have a Qbert board that's acting screwy and I thought someone might
recognize the symptoms. If not, maybe someone can recomend a good
repair guy. Heres what the board is doing. The game is playing, the
characters jump. The jump sounds work, etc. Can't say I have heard any
music though. But the background, pyramid, extra guys, and screen is
jumbled with white bars and letters. Here are the supspects so far.
1. Bad edge connector(would lack of 1 5volt pin cause this)
2. Bad Rom (the one at BG-0 looks suspect)
3. Bad video ram( can anyone tell me what chips these are)
4. Bad Ram(same question).
All this started when it was powered up cold. It cleared up once, but
won't anymore. I thought it was just a bad chip socket. But I reseated
all the socked chips with no luck. So who repairs these boards fairly
cheaply. This one was working but had no knocker or speach. I tried to
repair the knocker circuit but to no avail. Replaced the speach chip
on the sound board, still no voice, and now it makes a weird
helicopter sound. At wits end with this one. Any help would be
appreciated. And does anyone sell rom sets for these. If so who and
what chips are included.
.
