Hi All,
I have a mid-90's arcade machine that was originally for Killer
Instinct and has also had Killer Instinct 2 added to it. Everything
has been fine for the last couple of years but recently when i turn it
on and play for no more than 5 minutes or so, the screen goes blank
and I hear a sharp 'hiss' noise over and over again on about a 2
second interval. The noise sounds exactly like the noise most CRT's
would make when they first power up, but instead of actually powering
up it just continues to 'try' over and over again until I power it
down.
I have done some research and it seems like this could be the cause of
a bad Flyback Transformer. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions
for me? Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Derek
Start with a cap kit if it hasn't had one recently, if it still won't start up you probably have a bad solder joint.
