Thanks for the support Chico.
James, I've got 2 other Space Invaders machines I've swapped
parts in and out of. It's the monitor for sure. I've re-built
the power supply and the CPU boards. They work perfect.
I'll see if I spy blue arcing and the like later tonight.
I've gone over the solder joints on that HV section to no
avail. My monitor is not "dim" and can brighten it up as
much as you'd want to.
Of curiosity (sorry, knowledge on the various monitors are
my weakest link), I saw that there was some banter about
'red' and 'blue' on the underside of the monitor's chassis,
by the leads that connect to the yoke. As if both signals
(in an RGB setup) are combined to make the glorious B/W signal.
Guess I should just pull the damn thing back out again and start
testing components with my DMM.

I have a SI that has similar issues. Except mine is dim and some of.
the bullets/scores/letters don't show up. I still haven't found what
exactly is the cause. Something you might try is to look in the dark
cab and see if you have any blue arcing(and maybe a wiff of ozone). I
had a HV rectifier shaped like a fuse that was leaking HV out. Since
there was a chance it was traveling across oil, I pulled it and
cleaned it, but it still leaked. So I swapped it with a better one
from another chassis. That stopped the leaking, but its still dim. I
suspect the HV trasnformer is going bad on mine and yours could have a
similar problem. I think my model was a XM-501 but I can't recall if
it was a motorola. Hope this helps, or at least lets you know your
not the only one. ;-)
