Make sure your power supply is putting out -5 Volts, as the game may require
it.

Also make sure to check the voltages the power supply is putting out, as one
game board may work with out-of-spec voltages, while another will not.

Asides from that, check for broken/cut traces on the PCB, or any loose
chips.  Also check the pins on the bottom of the board, and make sure that
pins are not bent over causing short circuits.

No problem, everyone has to start somewhere.

Best thing to do is to try another JAMMA board in your cabinet and see
if
you get the same results.

If this is not possible, the first thing to do is to get a multimeter
and
measure the voltages getting to the board to make sure the power supply
is
working correctly.

Also, basic stuff like cleaning the contacts/pins may help, or checking
for
loose chips on the board.

Let us know how you make out or if you need additional assistance.

Hello,
I apologize but i am a newbie so bear with me. I have a fighter and
attacker pcb that when i plug it in to my cabinet i only get a blue
screen. There is no sound or any other signs of life. I have tired
looking at the board to no avail. It looks really clean and can not
see where any issues might lie? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you- Hide quoted text -

I agree with Mike... FIRST CHECK YOUR POWER SUPPLY!

You can pick up a cheap digital multimeter from Sears, Home Depot, etc
for maybe $10 or $15 on sale. Make sure your +5VDC is no higher than
5.20+ without the PCB connected. You might find that your power supply
was just too low and the board could not properly initialize...or if
the power supply drifted too high, the higher voltage might have
damaged the PCB (and you would not want to purchase a replacement
board to have it suffer the same fate).

Alright well i finally got around to trying to troubleshoot this board
and i was able to get another board and that came up with no problems
in the cabinet. I then tried my hand at cleaning all of the contacts
and reset all the chips. All to no avail, still am getting the same
blue screen with no sound or nothing.  what would be the next step?- Hide quoted text -

Alright decided to give it another go. I checked the power supply and
that looks good. The +5 was up around 5.45 so i turned it down a
little so it is closer to 5 now. I do not see where there would be
any broken traces as the board looks really clean. I took the chips
out and tried cleaning them with an eraser? Then went to reseat them
and tried it again still same blue screen no sound or any activity.
Is there a way to tell that you are putting the chips back in
correctly? or is there even a correct way? Any more help would
greatly be appreciated.
