Hey all,Whenever I have come across this, (Atari used this a lot) The plus
I have a cyberball machine that I am trying to put a new switcher
into. On the schematics, there are +/-senses with the 5V and GND. In
previous posts, some have said these sense wires could be hooked up to
the 5V and GND, yet some said they can be left unattached. What is
the best way to hook up power in this case. Thanks.
sense went to +5 and minus sense went to ground. I didn't blow
anything up and my games worked again, although hook up at your own
risk. Good Luck!
the voltage drop of the wires and connectors on the way to the load.
Normally they would be connected to the power on the PCB, but for
"normal" use, you are correct. +Sense to the +power and -Sense to
ground is the proper way to do things.

Leave them disconnected, if you get an open circuit on the main power
wires, the current will flow through the sense wires instead, usually
they're thin and will burn up. Additionally, you can use them to
conveniently measure the voltage at the board and adjust the power
supply accordingly.
the PCB. Floating sense lines can cause problems depending on the
design of the supply. One thing is for sure, if you hook them, as I
stated, you will not have any problems.
