No, they don't. That's not only incorrect, but a dangerous assumption.
Autotransformers are transformers by name and definition, but they do
not isolate. They consist of one single winding which is tapped to allow
it to step up or down, the cost and losses are lower, but they do not
provide any isolation.
Granted, autotransformers (aka Variac) are a special exception. However,
for the purposes of someone who is asking about identifying an isolation
transformer in an arcade machine, transformers isolate input from output
due to the principle on which they work.
