Have you tried cleaning the edge connector really well?  I have a T&F
that was having similar issues but a good cleaning of both the solder
side and component side of the edge cleared it right up.

FIXED! Well, almost. The problem was a bad 74LS245 @ B9.
Edge connector was fine.
Still no sound, but I believe the sound chip on the top board is
dead :-(
Score area and High score screen is weird, but I believe this is due
to me removing the dead battery. Turning the dip switch setting to
reset high score on power-up seems to fix the corruption.

Anyway, I have updated the log for future reference.
