It's an Electrohome G05 15". Any ideas of what to check first? I've
not done much with monitors. Also, if I need to discharge the high
voltage can I just jumper a wire from the frame of the monitor to a
screwdriver then stick it in the anode to discharge?
Thanks for any ideas/help!
Mike
Mike,
It's would be a good idea to ground your jumper to the ground strap
( zero potential ) which touches the aquadag coating on the back of
the tube, instead of the chassis grounding. Use one hand and a good
screwdriver with thick plastic insulation. Maybe work a 1k resistor
in series even, or at least a 10 gauge (or higher) piece of wire with
good insulation. Unplug the game, naturally. Only use one hand.
I think your hunch on the Z amp is likely a good one, based on your
comment about the brightness problem. Check your diodes and
transistors within the Z circuit first.
