How to check voltage on Midway filter block

Dumb question, but I'm still learning this stuff. I have an Omega
Race that's barely getting any power to the boards. I've checked the
power going into the filter block, but am not sure where to put the
negative lead of the multimeter to check the power going out. There
are 8 wires going from the filter to the linear power supply, and the
schematics show all 8 carry voltage. Where the heck do I put the
other multimeter lead? I'm used to connectors that have both power
and ground.
I looked at a Tron manual, and it seems that the MCR games are the
same up to the filter block - the linear supply is where Omega Race
differs with the oddball voltages. I know it's something simple, but
I'd rather ask than short something.
Thanks!
Tom
