I'm having some difficulty getting a working monitor into my cocktail
Millipede.
It currently has an Electrohome G07-FB0 which went bad shortly AFTER I
did a cap kit replacement. Yes, I did verify the cap polarities before
powering it up. It had worked for about two weeks before failing. I'm
assuming the old caps were keeping it running because the other
components were handling the caps deteriorated condition.
Anyhow. I can't seem to find a reasonable replacement chassis for my
monitor. It's a 13" model and there are many 19" chassis models
available. Can the main board (not the crt board) be substituted for
the 13" model? I used to fix video games for a living in the early
80's, but I've lost a lot of that knowledge. One thing I do recall is
that there was a lot of common components for monitors, sometimes even
with picture tubes themselves. What are the possibilities for
substitution?
The schematics for the Millipede show option connections for a Wells
Gardner monitor, but good luck to me to find a 13" inch version. Could
a Wells Gardner chassis (including crt board) be substituted for my
Electrohome? I suppose I should try and research tube part numbers to
verify if that's possible.
I did get the game working with a Commodore Amiga computer monitor.
It's a TTL based RGB monitor. Unfortunately, it's my only Commodore
monitor which I use for my classic computer collection and fitting it
into the Millipede is out of the question. However, it does give me
ideas for substitution.
I'll get this all together someday. I just want to tap some other
experience in this matter.
Thanks,
Jeff
There's some 13" monitors for sale on KLOV...
