Thanks to everyone who responded to my past post about the tempest
issues.
The concensus was "replace your AC power parts" before looking any
farther (bridge rectifier, and fuses... Already did the big blue). I'm
happy to report I recieved my Bob Robert Atari AC rebuild kit today...
installed and magically my tempest is back alive!

This is a great Christmas present to have this thing working again!

Thanks everyone!
Happy Holidays.

What was the issue/symptoms?

a couple issues.
1) wierd monitor issues (screen only showing 1 quadrant of the
screen)... that was intermittant and seemed to be before the problem
really "de-evolved" and stopped working altogether.

2) once it totally stopped working symtoms were. 1 and 2 player
buttons were lit solid (on free play) rather than blinking. no picture
at ALL on the screen... and this always was accompanied by the speaker
putting out a LOUD hum.I had swtiched out PCBs with known working ones
didn't solve the problem, then switched out the ARII which seemed to
work for a while then stopped altogether again and went back to the
loud hum no picture etc.

after rebuilding with the new fuses/ fuse blocks, quick disconnects,
and BR along with cleaning the contacts on the boards it seems to be
working again. (with the same rebuilt AR II and PCB that were
originally in there)... I'm just hoping it stays working now.. before
I celebrate too much ;)

I'll have to give that a shot. I have a 2nd Tempest that has 'odd'
onscreen behavior. The PCB works (tests fine in the other Tempest)
but during game play all sorts of odd lines are being drawn, lines
missing, characters being displayed in completely wrong places, etc.

The AC power on this one has been messed with so it definitely needs
to be looked at.
