Just so all readers are clear: In the network tests, the machine's
card transmit/receive numbers are both moving up sequentially. The
OTHER unit's card is also displayed on the same screen, but only the
receive numbers are moving up. I assume this is because it's logging
that its receiving data packets from the other card? Either way.
it's vice versa for each.

Thanks.

I think you need to have version 2.1a or better in order to link the
machines. Atari/WMS was famous for putting stuff out before it was
ready for prime time. All of the linked Cal Speeds I've ever had all
had 2.1 on them.

That particular version of Cal Speed can be had in a few ways. You can
buy the drives pre-programmed (usually around $200.00 per), download
the Cal Speed MAME CHD and use it to burn the drives yourself or find
some one that will burn the drives for you.

i found two replacement drives preloaded with 2.1a on ebay from
"arcademojo", a good consistent seller of replacement drives dirt
cheap. they're only 25 bux a pop so i'm gonna give it a go. my only
questions NOW are, do the drives even have to be the same hardware
revision? and do you think 2.1a will work with any hardware revision
or was it released and designed for a specific Seattle board revision?

thanks for the helpful info, i'm gonna give it a go and post the
results.

cheers,
armand.
