I have a 19" WG that I accidently kicked (shouldn't have left this on
my garage floor) and broke the neck on. I removed the neck board, but
was wondering if I need to take the same precaution as you normally do
when remove the red (cathode?) running from the flyback to the Tube.
The chassis was in very nice shape and the monitor had a nice picture.
I was just going to use a screw driver and pop the suction cup up.
Usually I ground myself and a large screwdriver with a wire running to
the chassis. Just wondering if breaking this neck took all of the
juice out of the tube. It definitely sounded like it when I kicked it,
scared the hell out of me! Also, am I to assume that the chassis is
still okay since the only damage was to the tube, or is there
something else I should be cautious of before hooking this chassis to
another tube?
Thanks, Tim
Your tube is discharged now... (other than danger from broken glass) there should be no risk of shock if it has been off for more than a few minutes as the vacuum is lost and the tube will discharge itself much quicker.
The chassis should be fine, check the neck board for cracked traces though.
