Re: TV tubes for games - Lucky find

Uhm, not to piss on your parade, but probably 9 out of 10 TVs you open
will have a usable tube. Newer tubes might only be 8 pin, but you can
use those in 7000s or get an 8-Liners chassis. Most yokes are close
enough to not require swapping, too (unless you're rebuilding a G07, I
think).

So, while you didn't really "discover" anything per se, that's
actually good news... tubes are abundant.

Ran across something interesting today that I thought I
should share with the group...

I have an old Teknika 19" TV (1981) that I used until
recently and decided to check it for tube usage in a
game (had a funny feeling about it). Well, I was right
and upon opening it, found what resembles a WG4900
chassis. I can't find a manufacturer on it, but it
certainly has that look of a WG4900, aside from all of
extra TV stuff. I compared the neck to a WG4900 and
it's an exact match, as are neck rings, neck board
cables, tube (RCA), etc. I'd been willing to bet I
won't even have to swap yokes (only had that happen
once before). Once I pull the whole chassis, I'll check
the flyback too and maybe I'll get lucky there.

Thought I'd pass this on in case anyone else runs across
any of these old Teknika TVs (they were out of New York).
