Re: USPS rate increase, suggestions

It's not as simple as saying x-number of pieces delivered then, -vs- x-
number of pieces today since the transportation usage is pretty much
the same turn for turn whether you receive one letter or five.

On the other hand, energy cost are quite a bit different today from
what they were in 2001.

On the other hand, if you split energy cost increases out of the
totals, then the argument could be made if the increases were
warranted and valid or not.

I heard some interesting things on the radio today about this.

Since 01' the rate has increased 4 times. In 01 the post office had
approximately 800,000 employees, making it the third largest employer in the
U.S.A., only behind the U.S. defense department, and Wal-Mart. Since 01,
the amount of first class mail shipped by the post office has decreased,
although they have the same amount of employees and have hiked the rate 4
times... largely because there are 4 unions operating within the usps.

So here my friends we have the only business in the world that when
competition starts taking their customers away, they react by raising the
prices of their product 4 times.

try not to piss them off, but let 'em know this sucks!

wont do a bit of good.

the approval process for postal increases of any kind goes through
many levels of bureaucracy. you can research it if you wish.

i dont know of any rate increase that they rescinded de to custome
complaints.

being in the shipping business it seems the rate hike was justified.
they were losing money in too many areas. btw, ups and fedex generally
have annual increases.- Hide quoted text -
