I know there's people that really prefer these chassis, but I can't stand
them.. They're great when they work , but they are like working with
eggshells. I don't even like breathing hard around them. My experience has
been less than optimal with these stupid things. Had one that had the a/c
ripple going through the screen along with jail bars. Pulled the chassis,
changed all the caps, reflowed the yoke wire connector and rgb pins. Now I
turn it on and no high voltage. After awhile I get a light funny kind of
smell. All I did was cap it, they are all the right polarities and values.
Oh well.. time to troubleshoot for cold solder joints and lifted pads. :(

I can understand this. The K7000 seems to be the monitor I most often
have to go back to. If I rebuild almost any other monitor, from a
1001 in a Space Invaders to G07s to 4600s, Sanyo's, etc... they are
good to go from that point. The K7000s seem to have more "common
failure" parts than others.
K7000's suffer from some thing called "black trace syndrome." It may
look like theres good connection between joints but when it comes down
to it its not good enough. Keep and eye out for this sort of thing in
the future.
