One thing that will help in this matter is to "spread the load." By this I
mean to take all the +5 power cables and ground cables from your power
supply and connect them to various points all over the motherboard. There's
so much of a current drop across those wires that you'll lose a few tenths
of a volt if you're using only one pair of wires. Add another few tenths of
a volt if you're using alligator clips. Solder the power leads to various
points across the motherboard and that may help.
