Re: Dallas Auction Results?

To the best of my recollection:

I bought the $150 Pacman. The sad $100 Space Duel was complete minus the deflection board for the monitor. Yeah, I won that too.

The really sad Star Wars was in a house that caught on fire. That was soot. Had an ampliphone in it and it worked the day before. I gave up at $300 and let Jeremiah of Yesterday's Arcades take it. The crappy Galaga cabinet with 100 drywall screws sold for $70. The boards set sold for $65 after some fiddle-f*ckin around with the bidders. I think the Carnevils went anywhere for $250-$450. Gorf cocktail went around $165 I think. I wasn't paying too much attention at that point. You had to be there at 10:00 to find out. Raiden and DD3 I didn't pay attention to. Scott?

Yes, Rob took forever selling that *** at the beginning. And yes...............I was the crazy goof at the beginning that won the "free" Pachislo slot. Going on Craig's list today.

The plywood Midway multigames are made by some friends from across our southern border. They do a pretty nice job and they usually sell to ignorant home buyers. (Or is that redundant) They are Mame setups. They do all right. They sometimes end up buying them back.

The multi-cade games are made by a guy (Mike) from Oklahoma I believe. He buys the good clean cheap games to convert them. I've never seen him destroy a classic. Those sell to home buyers as well for usually over a grand. Usually have the 39-in 1 in them.

I'm too tired to remember what the Omega race with the nasty board went for. That was brought by the same guy with the Star Wars, Space Duel, Galaga cabinet with wood screws and the Moon Patrol cocktail. Hails from Arkansas.

Qbert was complete with just a little water damage.

Yes, I know. I ended up buying stuff. Always do. Sorry I missed you Buzz. I looked for you. Sorry if I missed anyone else.

I went to the Dallas Super Auction (Mesquite) this morning and couldn't stay
for the whole thing. I have a few questions/observations for those that
attended and stayed longer that I did.

1 - What did the following games go for?
Raiden
Double Dragon 3 (converted Joust cabinet I think)
The Galaga cabinet that was missing boards and a monitor
The working Gorf cocktail
Any of the CarnEvil's (although they all needed some TLC on the guns)

2 - I picked up a Williams Moon Patrol for $175, working 100%. When I got
it home and opened it up, I found out that there was a new switching power
supply (a plus). The monitor is in excellent shape and hardly no dust on
the inside. Everything looks original with only 66,889 plays. The only
thing the game needs is a new power cord and coin door lock. Looks like
they spliced one from an old lamp on it. Overall, the cabinet was a 7.5 -
8. It has a new CPO on it, but it looks like somebody just threw it on
there and trimmed off too much on each side (you can see wood on the CP).
Other than that and it needing a new coin door lock, I was very pleased.

3 - Here's some other games I looked at and considered bidding on but
didn't:
$150 - Pac Man (never saw power to it)
$125 - Wizard of Wor (it was working - I played it, but stopped working
when they auctioned it off)
$337.50 - Nice Stargate (good condition) - there was another working
Stargate but I didn't get a price on it.
$250 - Asteroids (working)
$375 - Asteroids (working better - clearer monitor)
$50 - Motorace USA (Williams) - not working

4 - Was it just me or did Rob take FOREVER selling off those Pachinko and
"$3500" slot machines that went for around $150?

5 - Seems like there were tons of shooters, bunches of sit down racing
games, and about 40 pins. Too many "home-grown Multicades" (which I hate).
I've been to better auctions, but at least it was adequate...and good to be
back to a place where there are other options other than Greedbay. And
what are those Midway cabaret-like multigames made from? 1/4" plywood?

Sorry I missed you Pat D. I'll try and catch you on Oct 14th.
