Re: Shipping costs are getting outrageous!

I would call them out on this one. We use Fedex Ground for most our
shipments over 3 lbs and I've used some big boxes and rarely get hit with an
oversized package.

Call up customer service and explain the situation and keep complaining
until they fix they charge. They are usually pretty good at taking care of
issues like this.

Looking back on the receipt I see where the oversize package is marked.
I don't know how big it has to be to be oversize. The box is maybe a
total of 4 inches longer and 3-4 inches wider than an Atari PCB.

I remember a Star Wars control panel ran $28 to ship to Wisconsin using
FedEx Ground a couple of months ago. That seemed a *bit steep* as well.

I just got a quote online for Fedex Ground. I chose a 4lb package (avg
weight of a standard PCB with packaging). I choose CT to CA and insured
for
$130. I got a rate of $9.85. 6 lbs was $10.48. I think they screwed
you
somehow.

I've been using FedEx Ground to ship most larger auction items as they
have been the most cost effective.Of course they have seemed to get
higher every time I went in to ship something.

But today it costs over $25 to ship a PCB, insured for $130, from
B'ham, AL to Los Angeles. I thought I got ripped so I had to ask twice
if the amount was right. It was right though.

I only charged $14 to ship as I had been using a flat rate shipping
costs in my auctions. Lose a dollar on one and pick up a dollar on
another is the way it had been playing out, until now!

Oh well, I'll either have to ban the west coast guys or go with the
UPS
shipping calculator.
