I have seen the two different boards and I do know of two different
versions of the game, but not sure if the earlier version is a European
version or just a buggy American version. The earlier version has the bug
where you can hide from the laser attack ships.
I have never seen any of the foreign language ROM's and would love to get my
hands on a dump... either from Gorf or Wizard of Wor. I did have a lead on a
board set with the foreign language ROM on it, but after I sent the guy a
working board in trade, I never heard from him again and lost the email
address over time. Anyone have a dump of these ROM's?

The euro version has a different rom board, with more roms for language
selection, and comes up with an 'X' in test mode.. I've got a couple
boardsets like this -- it's documented in the manual
