Rewiring isn't that difficult either, just a mater of grabbing 12v from
somewhere and running wires.
The problem is there isn't a good place to get +12V from in a Space Invaders.
I wouldn't advise getting it from the +12V supply from the power regulator
board. My concern is that the fan would a) draw more current than the 7812 can
safely source and b) introduce a noisy back-EMF (depending on the type of motor
it is) which the filter can't filter, and would eventually damage the RAMs because of
their sensitivity to power supply noise. I'd go with the 120VAC fan instead - there
are lots of places you can get one. Unless it's a cocktail I wouldn't even bother installing
one anyhow. YMMV...
