That's Horizontal collapse, look for the horizontal transistor, probably
bad, odd that it should go after a cap kit , maybe you got one in back to
front!
1) Power is failing to the horizontal output transistor - this could be
due to a low voltage power supply problem, bad connection, etc.
2) Base drive to the horizontal output transistor is failing - could be a
fault in the horizontal oscillator or bad connection.
3) Problem with the flyback transformer or its secondary loads (flyback
may provide other power voltages).

Hello all-
I just installed a few new caps in my Space Invaders Deluxe monitor
board. It has a Wells V1001 board. The machine was working fine but the
picture was a little dim. I decided to install about 6 capacitors that
I had lying around to see if it would help with brightness. When I
reinstalled the board, everything powered up fine and the monitor came
up normally. After a minute, I started to adjust the contrast and
brightness controls. Within a few seconds and while I was making
adjustments, the picture colapsed before my eyes into a 1/2 inch narrow
band down the center of the monitor running top to bottom. I can tell
the game is still playing because I can still hear it and I can see
shots fired within the very narrow band that is still on the display.
Does this sond like a vertical deflection problem? What area of the
board should I look at? Perhaps a Transistor decided to crap out? Any
help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
