Re: Robotron WG Monitor Help!!!--Please

OK, getting a shock from the output transistor? Your not touching it while
its powered on are you? There's a good amount of voltage there... That's why
your getting zapped.

Your monitor sounds like it needs a cap kit.

I have an all original Robotron (4/22/1982) except for a Bob Roberts
switching power supply. According to Bob's pictures it has a WG 4900
monitor and chassis (label missing on mine.) My problem is with the top
4" of the screen.
When the rug pattern comes on I have about 8 black horizontal lines
running across the top 2". Then when the attract screen comes on I have
3 horizontal thin color bar lines about 1 1/2" long on each end and in
the middle. The black lines are not visible.
After you play about 4 minutes the score numbers and your extra bodies
at the top get taller (1") and look like they are dotted not a solid
image like they are suppose to be. The 3 thin color bar lines remain on
the screen. Also the game figures (grunts and hulks) are shrunk in size
on the top 4". It will remain like this until you turn it off and let
it cool for about 20 minutes. Then it will do the same again.
I was getting a shock from the horizontal out transistor (nte89) on the
right side so I replaced it with a new one. No difference and still
getting a shock from it.
Have tried adjusting all the pots on the board except for the
horizontal choke. Nothing cures the above problems.
I had the problem with the dotted tall score and the 3 color bar lines
before I installed the new power supply. If I tapped on the monitor
chassis frame the problem would usually clear up. But not anymore.

I know this is long but I just tried to explain the best I could all
the things that it is doing. If anyone needs more info please let me
know. Thanks for any help.
