ok.. i just checked...
RadioShack (squirm) has 100K 1/2 watt resistors for $1 a piece. Plastic
handled screw driver at my local Dollar Store for (you guessed it) $1 (ok..
it's RIGHT next door to the RadioShack). Shrink tubing at RS for $3. total
(not including wire) is $14 for a safe discharge tool.
A new HV diode for a G5 or V2000 from Bob Roberts is $15 + $6 shipping
Seems like it pays to be safe (although the lightning bolt is always fun to
watch... bring's me back to my youth when my father set up a Jacobs ladder
and let us play with it (ok... so it was a stupid thing to give a 12 year
old kid a 20K voltage source and let him stick stuff between the wires and
experiment! Someone should have called DYFS! Still... it was fun :) ).
