See, that is the trick with aesthetics--by defenition, they are
subjective. I am highly interested in aesthetic issues, as, well, I
deal with aesthetics for a living. Subjectively, I'm mostly unconcerned
with the change/difference of design in the cards. But again, ya know,
that's me :-)

There was at least one good reason to make the design change--someone
liked the new design better. I mean, I fully undertsand that one could
argue that it was unecessary, and possibly harmful (although for one, I
don't think it was. But, me) Maybe the art director was like "Man. I
hate that old design that folks not working for WW made. Let's make the
design that we like!" Arguably, sure, not necessarily a good idea. But
also arguably something that makes some sense. Especially if you are
the art director.

Again, in an absolute sense, I think the current design scheme is
better than the middle "VTES" scheme. That it is different and arguably
confusing is one issue to contend with. Design, however, is another. If
you (as the art director) can convince yourself that the fact that the
design is *different* isn't a huge problem, then making it the design
that you like makes perfect sense.

See, I don't think that is necessarily the case. For example, I don't
think mixing two layouts sucks far worse than having a single layout. I
can see why someone might think it does suck, but I don't think it is
an absolute that it does suck. It seems likely that just as many people
don't mind mixing layouts as not.

Go nuts--this is a perfect forum for us to grouse together and not get
real het up about anything. Like, again, I'm not saying you are wrong
here--you clearly don't like that they changed the design, and find
mixing layouts problematic. You can't be wrong about that. I'm just
making a point that just 'cause you didn't like the change, and find it
problematic, and feel that it is super sucky to combine two layouts,
not everyone feels that way. And that while you feel that there is was
no rational reason for changing the design, well, I don't think that is
the case.
