What do you mean, "good menucolor settings"? The defaults.nh file?
Yeah.
What do #overview and #annotate do?
They display an overview about the dungeon branches, and let you make
annotations to levels (like, i called level 5 a bone level). The patch
also collects information about temples, shops, fountains, altars and
such stuff automatically (only the ones you've already discovered).
It's very usefull for, for example, remembering where your spellbooks
are (#annotate the level "cancellation spellbook" or so).
The Dungeons of Doom: levels 1 to 5
Level 3: <- You are here
A potion shop
Level 4:
A jewelers, a sink
Level 5: (bone ?)
Here's the source: files.feorar.org/nethack-patched.tar.gz
Unluckily, i commited some build files, so it's 29 MB large. I hope
you don't mind. It's a git repository, so you can easily undo some of
the patches if you want, at least in the order they were applied
(it'll maybe a bit more difficult to remove a specific one).
If you have problems compiling, please tell me. If compiling on a 32
bit system, you may need to "make spotless" before being able to "make
all".
Also notice that this was compiled with using it with dgamelaunch in
mind, so probably the paths are *not* set correctly.
Best regards,
Sven
I think that might be a problem. I've downloaded most of the patches
myself, so I'll try them first. Thanks anyway.
By the way, I have a reasonable config file for menucolors. B is
lightgreen, U is lightblue and C is red. Anything worn, wielded,
equipped, lit etc. is highlighted, with its appropriate text colour.
I'll email it to you if you want.
archmage84
Sorry, what exactly might be a problem? The directory settings?
Oh, thanks, but I have a very good config for menucolors, it looks
like this:http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/3579/data1.png
It really makes playing much easier, and is much more usefull than the
simple blessed - uncursed - cursed thing. :)
The config also includes colorization for skills and spell failure
rates, tell me if you want to have it.
Best regards,
Sven
Yeah, we've both got fine config files. Mine also has skills coloured.
I'm not confident with patching, and I'd prefer to learn how to do it
myself. Being able to patch NetHack with confidence would be worth
more to me than a nearly-completed set of source. Thanks anyway,
though.
Have you ascended?
archmage84
Yeah, once. http://pastebin.com/AeKW4yar
Well, "patching" on itself is not a skill worth to be learned in my
opinion... either "cat foo.diff |patch -p0" works, or you have to know
the programming language and adjust the code to fulfill both
fragments' (the unpatched and the patched one) intentions. It's an
annoying, unnecessary task, and it should in general be done by the
original developers (like, the menucolors patch should be applied by
default and there should be a build option to enable it).
Anyway, good luck! :)
Best Regards,
Sven
