I just noticed that in the past day or somebody has been posting utter

On a bunch of newsgroups not just RGRN and a lot of different
usernames. I've seen plenty of handles who are regulars on other
groups.
I don't know if they cracked by google
news password, or if they simply forged the name.
Simply forged. Security on UseNet is the same as security on
paper mail - You can write whatever you want as the return
address and if it looks like it's in the right format it gets no
checking at all.
Suggestions?
Forging is an offense that gets accounts cancelled so you can
try that. Failure to cancel forging accounts can get a server's
feed pulled so be prepared to move server to server in your
efforts. Just to let you know the person doing this finds cracked
computers and hijacks them so in the end what you'll end up
doing is find and clean cracked computers. It's a worthy task
but there's an endless supply of them
Can I put a stop to this?
No. However you can delete from the google archive the ones
that forge you. Google isn't the only UseNet archive but it is
the most popular one.
Aside from changing my google password, which I have done.
That doesn't help any more than changing your locks in an
attempt to stop junk mail.
Mostly - Filter out the chains of posts, ignore them, post as yourself
with your usual discussion quality. A robot can't match a human
for that.
