Re: How much time from Vlad's to ascension?

But I've got the Eye of the Aethiopica. Isn't that enough? Robe is

"In addition, relying only on your own Quest artifact for magic
resistance is dangerous in the endgame, because the Wizard of Yendor
can steal it from you and then hit you with Touch of death; a Quest
artifact of another role, obtainable only by wishing, is safe from
this kind of theft (but not from that of nymphs, of course)."

? But hey, if you think that I should use the CoMR, just to have
redundancy, then I can do that too. I don't even need to use a wish,
I have one lying around somewhere.

Fair enough, yes. I guess you could keep the robe, then, and use that wish for
something more useful.

Got one in my bag of holding. Never used it, though. Is there
somewhere in particular where it's especially useful? One of the
Planes, perhaps?

On most of the Planes, really. Especially Air plane, which is full of air
elementals and other stuff. The Astral Plane's got loads of nasty enemies as
well, but if you have the ring on your finger, you'll get some hostile angels
around instead of a tame one.

And if you're gonna get an Archon as a pet, he'll turn on you as well. Make a
choice between a Figurine of Archon and the ring.

Heck, I'm not even sure why I have the wand of cancellation. I'm sure
I'm missing something: I only use if to change potions to water.

I don't keep cancellation wands with me at all: While you have that
super-paranoia at water, I have a similar with these wands, and that I'd put one
in the Bag of Holding by accident.

So, am I better off to use the magic lamp for a wish, or for light?
Will the light be particularly helpful at some point in the end
game? Also, why genocide purple worms in particular? Are they
especially attracted to Archons, or is it simply that they are the one
thing that's dangerous to an Archon?

Use the Wand first: Some extra light is always helpful, if not necessary. Purple
worms can insta-kill Archons ("Burrrp!"), so yeah, they're kinda dangerous. But
they do make great pets as well, although they won't leave any loot from enemies
they kill.

Honestly, the only reason I've got the water-walking boots is because
I stepped into a pool of water by mistake half-way through this game
(but luckily made it to shore). I've been super paranoid since then.
Couldn't something like a blue dragon fry my ring? Whenever I have to
traverse water, I change my boots from speed to water-walking, AND put
on the ring. :P

The ring's enough. Ditch the boots. And yes, blue dragons could fry your ring,
but reflection protects from that too.

If my gauntlets of dex are fireproofed, is there *any* way I could
lose them? That paranoia is again the only reason I'm keeping the
other gauntlets around, just in case someone nicks them (I'm really
afraid of cockatrice...). Maybe I should genocide nymphs?

There's no way you could lose them even if they weren't fireproof, unless you
dropped them yourself. And nymphs are hardly a threat at this point of the game:
Their seduction attack stopped working about ten levels ago, and you're too fast
for them anyway, with Speed Boots and... You do have the Speed intrinsic, right?
You should have.

Speaking of cockatrice: why should I bless a corpse? Also, is there
any way to keep the corpse fresh, other than an ice box? How do I
keep the corpse around to use against Rodney?

Blessing a corpse won't help, and you won't have a good way to keep it fresh
either. But you won't need it: You already have the Wand of Death for special
emergencies, and the Staff of Aesculapius has that really nice level draining
effect that'll keep the Wizard down.

Unfortunately, I only have about 2 full healing potions. :( Will
that be enough??

With all those AoLSs, yes. And you could always make some more.

Bless them, too, so they'll give a nice bonus to your max HP as well.

One thing I've learned: titans suck! :)

Arch-Lichs suck more.

Genocided L and ; and h. :)

Demogorgon. *Cough*

Thanks for any help ! ! !

You're welcome.

Thanks again!

My pleasure.
