Maybe it will help if you put your posting in a Real Editor first and
cut it at 70 columns (google groups seems to hard-fold longer lines
without further reorganizing the data), and then post it. (Not sure if
it works for the map data, though.)
I strongly recommend using a real newsreader instead of some web
interface..
Which would be the better suggestion.

Well, I've finally figured out access to newsgroups through my ISP at home.
Hopefully my posts won't be as mangled now. I still need to rely on google
for newsgroup access at work though.
*sigh*.
Wish me luck in figuring out Opera's newsgroup reader.
