That's the spirit. Once you realize how to play a character properly
it's like a whole new game. Early jumping boots become as welcome than
speed boots. (Be wary of the nutrition cost of jumping, especially
early in the game.) GoP are early game breakers when combined with
Expert thrown daggers. Or Expert darts. Even rocks become deadly fired
one at a time. NB: Missiles fired from launchers do NOT get the
strength damage bonus.

I've never checked if Expert at sling gets multifire. Multifire rules.
Any character that can acheive multifire in anything should do so.

Not slings, unfortunately. Rocks, gems, glass, flint can't be
enchanted. Missiles fired from a launcher don't get Str damage bonus.
So it's only 2 points of damage per missile, Multiplied by 2x for expert
skill. Average 4 points of damage per firing. That costs 6 skill
slots. Not even close to worth it, since GoPower will cause a single
thrown rock to do 8 points of damage.

Valkyries are the combat wombats of death with Expert thrown daggers.
That's why the DevTeam put in the #twoweapon Deathtrap for Valks.
#twoweapon takes 2-3 times the skill slots, twice as many b?oEW, uses a
weaker skill damage table, and is pitifully limited in range. (It's not
so much that NetHack tries to kill your character as it gleefully lets
you kill your character.)

Because Valkyrie can only ever spend 2 slots on spells and might
consider not even doing that, I think they have plenty of slots to
spend on weapons.

Not early on. Worse yet, #twoweaponing makes the starting +3 shield
useless.

Initial Basic to final Expert 5 slots for dagger, 5 slots for long
sword.

Another 3 slots for Skilled #twoweapon, 6 slots for Expert Mjollnir.
That's 19 skill slots, aka Skill Slot Jail.

A lot of players are in love with #twoweaponing. They either don't
know or don't care that Expert hammer and long sword are useless when
#twoweaponing at Skilled. (Btw, Skilled #twoweaponing gives -5 to-hit
and +0 damage bonus.)

Even if you hold long sword and Mjollnir to Skilled that's still 13
skill slots. That's a long time to wait for Expert thrown daggers.
Of course daggers should be advanced first, but the "Valk SMASH!"
philosophy is deeply engrained. (aka "Run up and let the monster hit
me.")
