As was pointed out, the 60% level is acheived well before reaching
XP=30 with a carefully tuned spellcasting armor kit.

There is an advantage to maxing out XP and spell-tuned armor:
Failure rates for finger of death fall to 0% as you move up and
the damage done by magic missile spell increases as well. At
some point a combat-wombat Valk can go from using wands
and daggers to using attack-school spells and still be playing
what's essentially a combat-wombat style just with a different
set of "weapons".

To some extent attack spells are like zero-weight auto-charging
wands. "Z"ap with abandon while your manna lasts, then
switch to wands, then switch to daggers, then take out what
survives all that with two-weaponed artifact-and-saber.

Good point. It's more a matter of getting to the point so much
is identified all that's left is charges on wands and rings. It
would be so nice for blessed identify to give the number of
charges left on a spellbook. It's while the failure rate still
hasn't dropped very low that the spell is the most value. Maybe
that's why I mentioned the 60% level - it's when my high level
Valks use it the most.
