I'd try and run the quest before trying to deal with a priest. The orb will
help a lot in keeping his spell damage within limits, assuming you don't
find some source of MR before then. And every level you hit is another
chance for a useable altar. It's nice to be able to put your stash outside
of minetown...having to head back there all the time is a real pain once
you start getting pretty deep in the dungeon.
