YAAP

So my first Arch ascended! Yay!
I was quite pleased with the +7 saber combo - I've ascended wizards
before, and always given Rodney the finger. This time, I sliced and diced
through 12 of him (apparently).
There's not a whole lot of excitement to the story. Early Purple Worm pet
+ several lucky breaks midgame made this fairly easy. I did lose my
purple worm at some point - no idea what happened to it. No big loss,
though, by the time that came around, I'd cleared out Ludos, the castle,
and the Quest. The Quest was absurd it was so easy - two silver sabers,
and it's all over in a matter of seconds!
I did this ascention run much faster then I have in the past. I told my
brother I'd ascend the character tonight, so I did :) I blew my wishes on
a magic whistle, a few nice pieces of armor (but ultimately not necessary
- I could easily have done wishless, I think), and on my way back up, I
realized I had no levetation, so I wished up a ring of that. I'd used
water walking all game. Turns out the one un-ID'd ring I had was
levitation. Go figure. But my other wish was for +oMagic Mapping. VERY
good wish; I breezed through hell. Usually I go down, map everything out,
have a big plan, go back up to prepare, come back down and then choke on a
wraith corpse or something. This time, once I hit the valley of the dead,
I just kept going! I took (mostly) shortest paths between stairs, using
pickaxe regularly.
I have to admit, I was a bit disoriented when I hit the bottom - where the
hell is the down stairs?? Oh, riiiight - vibrating square! I used my
favorite cursed!oGL to leave the santum, and got thrown back 8 times.
Rodney double-troubled me several times on the way up - no fun...but the
dual sabers conquered all!
I started to worry about hitpoints in Air - my AC was -35, and air
elementals *hurt*! But if I took them one at a time and used a =oRegen,
then I found it wasn't so bad. I also had hoarded 3 "oLS, but never
needed a single one.
On astral, I decided to go towards Death first...no idea why - I was well
prepared for both the others with Cure Disease at 0% and plenty of food...
Late night :) Of course, it was the wrong way, and I lost 30 hp out of
the deal. Second choice with Pestilence was the right way to go, and
miractulously, my pets survived, so I took them along. Still and all,
not much score. I didn't even bring along Snickersee - I was concerned
with fast and dirty, that's all. The only thing I didn't do was wish for
an artifact!
You offer the Amulet of Yendor to Quetzalcoatl...
An invisible choir sings, and you are bathed in radiance...--More--
