2) Its possible to show "blocks" instead of "#" as walls on mac?
When I play crawl on windows i think its using ansi or some sort
of extended ascii (walls, doors, etc.. have "graphical"
representations) I tried to change the char_set variable on
init.txt but nothing seems to work.

(Joke answer: use the tiles version.)

When I set the charset to dec, I get blocks for walls and crosses for
doors. Is that not what you're looking for? (Maybe somebody who knows
better can answer you here.)

Sorry, i think i send you a private reply.
Anyway im gonna try the charset "dec" and post here my impressions in
case that can help someone in the future.
Thanks again.

Well, finally i did it. Changing the charset to "dec" didn't work with
default terminal application from Mac OS X. But I downloaded an
application called "iTerm" and i get blocks for walls at last.

The only thing i dont like is that in mac you only get 8 colors,
instead of 16 like windows. I don't know why.

Because for some reason the Apple Terminal application only supports
eight colors. I use iTerm for all my Mac crawling needs, it handles 16
just fine. (Though if you compile on a Mac, it may do an eight-color
Crawl build by default; there's an option in there to change it, I can
look for it if you can't find it.)

Thanks Rachel
Finally what i did was "big problems, big solutions" :)
Installed "parallel desktop" (a virtual machine software) in my Mac
Now i can use Windows XP in a window inside my Mac OS X and inside
that window i use Crawl for XP, with cursor keys support, blocks for
walls, etc.... i know, i know: "wtf" but works! :)
