You don't have to perform steps 5-8 every time you play. Simply save
the settings using the name "Default Settings". That will load your
settings so you don't have to set them every time.

Thanks for that Nate - I never realised I could do that (slaps self -
doh).

Some good advice and tips here, I need to do a re-vamped version to
include extra bits and pieces.

If you could encourage people to use SSH rather than telnet for CAO
(joshua/joshua) that would be great too --- I'm trying to cut back on
bandwidth usage and SSH helps. What you had looked great, thank you!
When you have a finished version I will post it on CAO if you are OK
with that...

-r.

(still catching up...)

I've tried playing over SSH, both when I first went online ~2 weeks
ago and more recently since you've added that comment about SSH to the
server and the IRC channel, but I can't seem to get it to work with
Putty. It doesn't connect at all with port 23, and with port 22 it
connect but doesn't log me in. (After I enter my username/password it
tells me that information isn't correct.)

I know how to do Telnet because I used to play NetHack online, but
maybe someone should write an idiot's guide to using SSH?

(I'm ZebTM on the online server, btw)
.
