After reading this I realised that there are probably other people who
may like the opportunity to play on the server but are not familiar
with how to get it set up for play. I suggested on the Crawl SS
Request Features board that an 'idiots guide' be written on how to get
up-and-running for those of us (me included here) who are not
particularly knowledgeable with computers etc.

So, to that end, I was asked on the ##crawl irc channel (eh? that was
another mystery to me also - more to follow...) if I should like to
write such instructions! I have decided to attempt this - bearing in
mind I am most definitley NOT an expert in such matters - I will begin
another thread in a day or so.

* A note to those of you who may have read this and scoffed and
sniggered - yes there are such people as me who need a bit of more in-
depth assistance than: 'just Telenet to...' in order to join
servers. So before you think about replying with any tongue-in-cheek
quips about 'computer dinosaurs' or 'old fogies' etc... just bear in
mind we all have to start somewhere :)

So what I propose to do is write a simple step by step guide for each
of the following:

a) Getting set-up for joining the (Akrasiac) server for online games
b) Setting up an IRC chat-room thingey (see! I still don't know all
the proper terminology!)

As I say, a new thread is probably best for this - I intend to get the
ball rolling, however if anyone else wants to start off or add with
constructive advice - feel free.
