Update: My Spriggan (started as venom mage, currently with a mid-range
Dodge title, but enchantment is likely to take over Real Soon Now)
cleared out Vaults:8 yesterday and i must say rod-casted Freezing
Cloud plus detect monster (which can also be had from a rod) is
_evil_. Instead of running around pillars and whacking stuff with my
staff of speed i can simply set a cloud and by the time my mana has
recovered the monster's dead.

I start to see why rods are considered broken.
