What do you think is important to take into account when naming a
roguelike?
IMO most important is the inspiration that led you to starting the
project. Also consider main feature of your RL and the thing you are
most proud of in it.
Finally consider google friendliness factor.
And which of the existing roguelikes do you think have good names, and
why?
- Xenocide is the best name I found so far. Both mysterious and
intriguing. Also gives a hint about theme and possible gameplay
features.
- Possesor Angband is a good name. I tells very much about the game
and decribes main feature.
- Linley's Dungeon Crawl is moderately good name. It actually is about
dungeons but doesn't sound interesting to me.
- Incursion: Assault on the Halls of the Goblin King is really nice
but a bit too long.
- ADOM and COSE are bad because they tell you almost nothing. Unless
you want to decrypt the acronym of course.
