My target audience is me and my beat up 4 year old laptop.
A P2 desktop probably can't even run the .Net platform, so in your case it
wouldn't matter if my game was a calculator that let you add integers.

Reproduce World of Warcraft with a roguelike ASCII rendering engine (or
Star Wars Galaxies if you prefer).

PC's.
*stares wistfully at his employer-supplied 500mhz Celeron*
I'll second this. I have on P2/266 PC with 128MB Ram and a 64 MB Video
Card, one P2/400 with 128MB Ram with a 2 MB video card, and a Celeron
366 with 256 MB Ram with a 64 MB video card.
None of my PCs are even close to the specs that would probably be
needed to run this game. That is why I enjoy roguelikes so much
because I get all the great game play without needing a huge investment
in hardware like I used to when I built my P2 desktop for $2500. Now
it's probably worth about $200.
